ST Case 8

Intervention

Summary

38 year old G1/P0. Gest.week 38+3 admitted to hospital in spontaneous labour.  Normal pregnancy.

  • 15:05 Admitted to hospital in spontaneous labour. VE: Cx fully effaced, dilated 3 cm, vx -2.  At vaginal examination SROM, clear liquor draining. Epidural sited on maternal request.
  • 15:44 FSE applied. ST Analysis initiated. Oxytocin infusion started.
  • 18:00 VE: Cx fully effaced, dilated 8 cm, vx at the spines.
  • 19:48 Labour continues. The ST Event occurred at 19:48 and Oxytocin infusion was decreased due to overstimulation between 19:20-19:30.
  • 21:10 Active pushing started.
  • 23:20 SVD 3560 g. AS 9/19/10.

Comment

Alleviation of cause of fetal distress such as overstimulation  is the first step to take as an intervention  and see if fetal condition improves. In this case Oxytocin infusion was decreased and the CTG trace became normal.
