ST Case 3

Guidelines followed

Summary

23 year old G 1 P0. Gest. week 40+3. Normal pregnancy.

  • 12:00 Admitted to hospital with spontaneous onset of labour, contracting since 10:00 and SROM at 06:00.  At arrival meconiumstained liquor.  VE: Cx fully effaced, 4 cm dilated, vx-1.
  • 14:37 Epidural sited on maternal request. VE: Cx fully effaced, 6 cm dilated, vx -1.
  • 15:31 Decelerations visible on external trace. Decision made to initiate ST Analysis and FSE applied.
  • 18:43 VE: Cx fully effaced, dilated 8 cm, vx -1.
  • 19:50 VE: Cx fully effaced, dilated 8 cm, vx at the spines.
  • 19:58 ST event. Oxytocin infusion turned off. Obstetrician decides to perform Caesarean section.
  • 20:08 Caeserean section. Babygirl  born. Birthweight 2980 g. AS 9,10,10.

Comment

Quick decision is made, where STAN GL are followed. Abnormal CTG and ST Event  requires qualified assessment. In this case rapid decision made,  acting on the first ST Event with a rapid delivery.
