CTG Case 4

FSE

Summary

29 year old G 4 P 3. Gest.week 39+4. Normal prenatal course. 2002 SVD Birthweight 3210 g, 2004 SVD 3330 g. 2006 SVD Birthweight 3420 g.

  • 19:20 Admitted to hospital contracting since 12:15 pm and SROM since 18:00 pm. At arrival strong contractions with 2-3 minutes interval and 60 sec. duration.
  • 19:33 VE: Cx fully effaced, 4 cm dilated, vx-2.  Meconiumstained  liquor.  At examination a vagal reaction with a bradycardia with good variability. Decision made to apply a FSE. Patient changes position to left lateral side and when FHR is back to previous Baseline Heart Rate after 6 minutes the FSE is applied.
  • 21:30 Epidural sited.  VE: Cx fully effaced, 5 cm dilated, vx-2.
  • 23:30 Urge to push. SVE/ Cx fully dilated, vx +2. Active pushing starts.
  • 23:44 SVD. Babygirl born. AS 9/10/10. Birthweight 3320 g.

Comment

During  all labour when more information is needed to exlude oxygen deficiency a FSE should be applied to monitor the fetus in a greater extent.
